Laser eye surgery refers to a group of procedures that use laser energy to remove obstructions, or correct vision. At the Specialized Surgical Center this includes laser cataract surgery, SLT, YAG capsulotomy, & YAG iridotomy.
YAG laser capsulotomy is used to treat posterior capsule opacification (PCO), a common side effect after cataract surgery. It’s a painless, quick procedure that clears up vision cloudiness using precise laser pulses. YAG Iriditomy is a quick, outpatient laser procedure used to create a small opening in the iris to improve fluid drainage and prevent or treat angle-closure glaucoma.
Yes! SLT (Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty) is a non-invasive laser procedure used to lower intraocular pressure in open-angle glaucoma. It’s often recommended when eye drops aren’t enough or cause side effects.
Recovery times do vary based on your procedure, from several days to a week. The good news is that some procedures like YAG and SLT typically have no downtime and you can return to activities the same day!
